A plank on your side — targets the obliques and the hip muscles that keep you stable.

How to do it
- Lie on your side with your elbow under your shoulder and legs stacked.
- Lift your hips so your body forms a straight line from head to feet.
- Reach the top arm up or rest it on your hip.
- Hold, then lower with control and swap sides.
Form tips
- Push the floor away through the supporting forearm.
- Keep your hips lifted and stacked.
Common mistakes
- Hips sinking.
- Shoulder hunching up to the ear.

Make it easier
Bend your knees and lift from your knees instead of your feet.
Make it harder
Lift the top leg, or add slow hip dips.
