Side lunge

A sideways lunge that works your legs in a different direction and stretches the inner thigh.

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet together and hands at your chest.
  2. Take a wide step out to the side.
  3. Bend the stepping knee and sit your hips back over that foot, keeping the other leg straight.
  4. Keep both feet flat and pointing forwards.
  5. Push off the bent leg to return to the middle. Alternate sides or complete one side first.

Form tips

  • Your chest can tip forward slightly as your hips go back.
  • Feel a stretch along the inside of the straight leg.

Common mistakes

  • Bent knee caving inwards.
  • Heel of the bent leg lifting.
